Yes, There Really Is A Beer Week in Kalamazoo!

I spent my high school years in Kalamazoo, so I was excited to see that they have a beer week coming up! And, given the lack of events going on around Grand Rapids in the near future, I think it might just be time to make the trek down south.

According to their FaceBook Event Page:

January 10-14, 2011 will mark the first ever Kalamazoo Beer Week. The event, which will offer beer tastings, meet the brewer events and beer dinners in restaurants and retail locations throughout the city, will feature Michigan craft beer and brewers.

Organized by Imperial Beverage, the week-long event will kick-off with a beer dinner at Martinis Pizza, featuring the brewing teams and owners from Arcadia Brewing and The Livery. Attendees will rub elbows with the breweries’ elite crafters, dine on great food from the Martini’s staff, and share a love of beer over Arcadia and The Livery selections.

Reservations are encouraged and can be made by forwarding your party name, contact information and number attending to

The concluding event will feature a beer tasting and bottle signing at Drake Party Store featuring the brewing team from Shorts, the fastest growing craft brewery in the US (up 357% over 2009) and a favorite of locals.

The lineup of fantastic, beer centered events list is constantly building. For a comprehensive, up-to-the-minute list of events, visit

  1. @Jolon @ Savvy Chic Savings, no, that’s not in the “near future” 😉 DH usually takes his Dad to the Michigan Winter Beer Fest for his birthday so it’s a guy’s day out kind of thing. BUT, we are looking for other couples to join us at the Fenn Valley wine dinner the end of March.

  2. I wish there was a gluten free beer fest. My husband really wants to go to some of these events (including Brew Ha Ha at the Deltaplex next weekend) but I hate to pay full price for a ticket when I can’t drink anything without getting sick!

  3. @wendy,
I don’t mind being DD. I just mind having to pay full price to do so. I haven’t found a festival yet that will let you in for free/reduced if you promise not to drink or are allergic to their product. 🙁

Whaddaya think?
