Winter is here.  Most Community Supported Agriculture Shares have ceased.

So if your New Year’s resolution includes eating more local food, what can you do?

Never fear, the following Farmers Markets have winter hours:

Fulton Street Farmers Market  (January – April, Saturdays 10 AM – 1 PM)

Holland Farmers Market is open on the first and third Saturdays.

Sweetwater Local Foods Market in Muskegon is open Saturdays 9-noon

Bank Street Farmers Market in Kalamazoo is open Saturdays 8 AM – 1 PM

In addition to adding the farmers market schedule to your calendar, consider one of the following options:

Good News Market FarmBox

Order online for pickup at one of several locations throughout Michigan. The standard option comes in small ($22 per week) and large ($30 per week) and represents “a portion of our efforts at any given time of the year, while our greenhouse technology and high tunnels help provide more year-round variety.” There is also a completely customized option.

Mud Lake Salad CSA

Mud Lake grows around 40 different varieties of lettuce, including red and green romaine, butterhead, batavia, and leaf lettuces.  “Since we grow lettuce year-round, we can add new members anytime as long as space is available.” New members pay a $25 sign-up fee (goes towards your first month or so of lettuce) and shares cost $5 per week (for a little less than a pound of lettuce). Pickup is in Hudsonville at the farm (delivery for an additional charge).

Nourish Organic Market Year-Round Fresh For You Locavore Basket

Small, medium and large baskets available each week for $35-70. Pick up in store on Wednesdays or delivery is available.

The Urban Mushroom Punch Card

The Urban Mushroom punch card is for 10# of MI mushrooom mix paid up front for per pound savings. Pickup at the farmers market locations or the farm during limited hours farm 4024 West River Dr. Comstock Park, MI 49321.

West Michigan Cooperative

The West Michigan Coop model combines the best of two worlds: the convenience of online shopping and the facetoface meetings between farmers and shoppers at pickup nights, which happen each month. Visit their website for the next order and pickup cycle.
