Made in Michigan: Johnny Secreto Foods

Last week I had the chance to meet John Coram, co-owner of Johnny Secreto Foods at the grilling event at Under the Vines. It’s always fun to meet the people behind the products.

Coram lives in Rockford, and started Johnny Secreto Foods a couple of years ago after being encouraged by friends and family that he should sell his pasta sauce, which is based on his grandmother’s recipe. He credits the MSU Product Center for helping his business become a success (you can read more about the business in this article at the Grand Rapids Business Journal.)

Coram says the company sources as locally as possible. For example they use a Michigan packer, a Lowell kitchen, Simpatico coffee, local honey, and other local ingredients.

Local is great and all, but how does it taste?

Fabulous! I was able to sample a few of the products at the grilling event at Under the Vines, and ended up purchasing the BBQ Sauce, Backyard Classic, Sultan’s Gold, and Espresso Especial.
